Die - Rise of the Rotten

Deense death metal op Unique Leader. Meteen brutaliteit en techniek verzekerd dus. Dat viel overigens ook af te leiden uit de line-up... mensen uit andere Deense bands zoals Adversary en vooral Panzerchrist. Dit blijkt het debuutalbum van de band te zijn, maar met de jaren ervaring van de individuen is dat vrij relatief, nietwaar?

Bij het van start gaan van de schijf valt er meteen iets op. Het geluid is herkendbaar Deens. Tue Madsen inderdaad. Een precisiebombardement, zowel vocaal, snaargewijs als qua slagwerk. Niets mis mee en de mensen die met een lekkere sound te verleiden zijn, liggen nu al in zwijm. Qua stijl ligt het in de lijn van andere Deense bands, maar ook verwijzingen naar Cryptopsy, Cannibal Corpse en het meer thrashy Corporation 187 zijn aanwezig in de muziek. Technisch is het geen complexiteit troef, het blijft navolgbaar en herkenbaar, nummer na nummer. Een rustig intermezzo en enkele genietbare instrumentale stukken zorgen voor de spreekwoordelijke stiltes voor de storm.

Jammer van het lelijke, wat simplistische artwork en de iets te monotome vocalen, voor de rest is dit een prima album vol muzikale mishandeling. Luistertip: Soil Became Flesh.

Danish death metal on Unique Leader. Immediately brutality and technique so assured. That was also evident from the line-up ... people from other Danish bands like Adversary especially Panzer Christ. This shows the debut of the band, but with years of experience of the individuals that's pretty relative, is not it?

At the start of the disk there is something immediately. The sound is similar Danish recognized. Tue Madsen did. Precision bombing, both vocal, string and in terms of random percussion. Nothing wrong with that and people with a nice sound to seduce are now lying in a swoon. Stylistically it is in line with other Danish bands, but also links to Cryptopsy, Cannibal Corpse and more thrashy Corporation 187 are present in music. Technically it's not complex asset, it is still reproducible and recognizable song after song. A quiet interlude and some enjoyable instrumental parts provide the proverbial silence before the storm.

Shame about the ugly, simplistic artwork and what the vocals a bit too monotonous, the rest is a great album full of musical abuse. To listen to: Soil Became Flesh.
