Er is de laatste tijd een fenomenale weelde aan death metal platen die het levenslicht zien. Mij hoort u alvast niet klagen, maar mijn buren beginnen er zo langzamerhand genoeg van te krijgen. Deze maal draai ik de volumeknop open voor het debuut van de Deense band DIE, dat de naam Rise of the Rotten met zich meekreeg.

Agressie alom op deze Rise of the Rotten. Vanaf de eerste tot de laatste seconde wordt er gebeukt, gebeukt en nog eens gebeukt. De vocalen zijn opvallend bruut. Zo hoort dat wel bij death metal, maar op deze plaat valt het nog eens extra op. Qua thematiek gaat het vooral over dood, marteling en zombies doorspekt met flink wat gore. Dat death metal thema’s moeten choqueren weten we al langer dan vandaag, maar al dat cliché gedoe gaat na verloop van tijd wel vervelen.

Het tempo van Rise of the Rotten ligt verpletterend hoog. Hoe de drummer al dat gedreun volhoud is voor mij een compleet raadsel, maar mijn respect heeft hij alvast. Negen nummers lang wordt er als bezeten om het drumstel geslaan. Zware, donkere gitaren vergezellen de drum van het nodige gebrul, met een al even hoog tempo. Headbangen is bij zoiets verdomd lastig, maar live kan dit alles wel een agressieve moshpit opwekken.

Nadelig is de lengte van de nummers. Zoals eerder vermeld is de plaat negen nummers lang, en elk nummer duurt om en bij de vijf minuten. De band doet zijn best om variatie in de muziek te steken, maar faalt uiteindelijk om te blijven boeien. Solo’s zijn doorheen deze plaat ook aanwezig, maar deze doen naar mijn mening af aan de bruutheid van de plaat.

De conclusie van OneForAll voor dit album

Al bij al geen slechte plaat, deze Rise of the Rotten. Het verpletterende tempo en agressieve muziek in combinatie met de death metal thema's maken deze plaat sterk. Jammer dat ze niet blijft boeien, anders was dit waarschijnlijk meer geweest dan de doorsnee death metal plaat die ze nu is.

There has recently been a phenomenal wealth of death metal plates that the light show. I already hear you complaining, but my neighbors are beginning to gradually get enough of. This time I turn the volume turned up for the debut of the Danish band, known as Rise of the Rotten beggar with it.

Aggression everywhere on this Rise of the Rotten. From the first until the last second is pounded, pounded and pounded again. The vocals are remarkably brutal. So hear that with death metal, but this album falls even further on. In terms of theme is the notion of death, torture, and zombies interspersed with lots of gore. That shocking death metal themes should we know nothing new, but all that cliché stuff goes over time or bored.

The pace of Rise of the Rotten is overwhelmingly high. How the drummer pounding all that perseverance is a complete mystery to me, but he has my respect already. Nine songs long as is possessed at the drumset skipped. Heavy, dark guitars accompany the drum of the necessary roar, with an equally rapid pace. Headbanging thing is damn hard, but all can live a harsh moshpits vomiting.

Prejudicial to the length of the tracks. As mentioned earlier, the record nine songs long, and each track lasts at around five minutes. The band does its best to variation in the stabbing music, but ultimately fails to keep me interested. Solos are also present throughout this record, but I think doing away with the brutality of the plate.

The conclusion of OneForAll for this album

All in all not a bad album, this Rise of the Rotten. The overwhelming speed and aggressive music with the death metal themes make the album strong. Too bad they will not fascinate, otherwise probably been more than the average death metal album that die is now.
